The Lake Okeechobee region is home to the largest lake in Florida and the second largest in the continental United States. Located in the southern part of the region, the city of Clewiston is known as sugar cane country, as it is one of the nation's leading sugar producers. The Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park permits visitors to take a swamp buggy tour and get closer to the local flora and fauna. For those interested in the history of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, guided tours such as the Billie Swamp Safari are available around Clewiston. Naturally, Clewiston is also a hot spot for fishing expeditions, therefore a number of fishing guides and resorts can be found in and around the city.
